Spring 2024 Registration Period:
February 2 – February 16, 2024

GRADES 3 – 5

Art Explorations (9:30am – 11:45am)
Explore ways of making art using a wide variety of media and materials that may include drawing, painting, printmaking, clay, and more. This class provides ample room for play while also introducing young artists to different and exciting approaches to artmaking.

GRADES 6 – 8

Studio Explorations (9:30am – 12:00pm)
Through drawing, sculpture, collage, and more, students learn to observe and explore the world around them. They may adopt new styles of making and understand more about themselves as artists. Students will be exposed to work by contemporary artists, and classes will consist of live lessons and demos, independent work time, one-on-one critiques, and group discussions as students hone their own voices.

GRADES 9 – 12

Painting (9:30am – 12:00pm)
This class emphasizes color theory, composition, and traditional and contemporary painting techniques. In working from imagination as well as from direct observation, students will refine their abilities as they explore how seeing is just as integral to painting as is applying the brush to canvas. The improvement of technical skill will be complemented by an exploration of historical and contemporary painting. This class is open to all skill levels.

Ceramics (9:30am – 12:00pm)
Students will create with clay as they learn a variety of hand-building and wheel-working techniques. These techniques may be applied to tableware as well as sculptural works that allow students to question the limits of clay. Contemporary artists that use clay to explore a variety of topics will be studied throughout the class. All skill levels are welcome.

Digital Photography (9:30am – 12:00pm)
This class covers the practical elements of digital photography, including composition, lighting, exposure, and lenses. Alongside the technical use of a digital camera and editing software, students will explore the power of the photographic image through individual and group projects, contemporary artists, and group critiques. This class is open to all skill levels.
