At MassArt, learning happens through making. In studios, workshops, galleries, classrooms, and communities, students develop the creative, critical, and professional skills needed to shape the future through art and design.
As the nation’s first and only freestanding public college of art and design, MassArt has spent more than 150 years expanding access to creative education. Our mission remains rooted in the belief that talent, curiosity, and dedication—not background or circumstance—should determine who has the opportunity to pursue an education in art and design.
Students come to MassArt because they want to explore, create, and learn alongside others who are dedicated to growing as artists, designers, educators, and creative thinkers. In studios and classrooms, galleries and residence halls, you’ll find them supporting and learning from one another, celebrating difference while finding common ground. Across disciplines, students share ideas, challenge assumptions, and discover new possibilities through creative practice. Together, they form a community of makers, thinkers, and innovators who show up, dig in, and embrace both the challenges and rewards of the creative process.
Our faculty are accomplished artists, designers, educators, and scholars who bring active professional experience into the classroom. Through mentorship, critique, and collaboration, they help students build confidence in their craft while encouraging them to take risks, experiment, and grow.
MassArt graduates are everywhere, bringing what they’ve learned to middle school classrooms, corporate boardrooms, and so many places in between. They’ve made their mark on world-class museums, blockbuster television shows, urban landscapes, and more. They are striving and thriving as dedicated teachers, groundbreaking designers, celebrated artists, and engaged global citizens who are committed to using their gifts to make the world a better place.
The truth is, there really are no limits to where a MassArt education can take you.
