FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Boston, MA — Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) invites the public to celebrate Boston’s creative economy at the MassArt Night Market in Downtown Crossing on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 5-9 p.m.

Featuring more than 55 MassArt students and alumni, the Night Market will showcase a wide range of original work—art, design, fashion, home goods, jewelry, ceramics, and more—making it the perfect destination for unique finds and early holiday shopping.

Free and open to all, the event will transform Summer Street and Washington Street into a dynamic outdoor marketplace and celebration of creativity and community. Presented in partnership with the Downtown Boston Alliance, the Night Market shines a spotlight on Boston’s emerging artists and entrepreneurs, while demonstrating the power of art to energize and enliven public spaces.

MassArt Night Market highlights include:

  • Student & Alumni Makers: Prints, jewelry, clothing, ceramics, and other one-of-a-kind works by MassArt entrepreneurs.
  • Hands-On Demos: Visitors can try screen printing a tote, paper embroidery, DIY notebook binding, and non-permanent airbrush tattoos.
  • Live DJs: Students from MassArt’s Studio for Interrelated Media (SIM) program will provide music throughout the evening.

“The Night Market is a perfect example of how creativity and entrepreneurship go hand in hand,” said Sara Hartmann, Program Director of Creative Entrepreneurship at MassArt. “Our students and alumni are not only incredible artists and designers, they are also building sustainable businesses that strengthen Boston’s creative economy. Events like this give them a platform to share their work, connect with the community, and grow as entrepreneurs.”

Beginning this fall, MassArt is launching the Business of Creative Industries minor, a new 15-credit program designed to equip artists and designers with the skills to succeed in the creative economy. Led by Hartmann, the program draws on the expertise of MassArt faculty, industry leaders, and more than 50 visiting entrepreneurs each year.

Admission is free, but tickets are required. Reserve your spot on Eventbrite. In case of rain, the event will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
