April Vacation Week: Spring Break

Youth Programs Spring Break offers a creative and supportive environment for students in grades 7-12 to come together and try something new! Take a break this April to explore your surroundings with fresh eyes. Spring Break at MassArt helps us notice the extraordinary in the ordinary.

SPRING 2024 (VIRTUAL AND ON CAMPUS)
April 16 – April 19, 2024
Classes run from 10:00am – 3:00pm each day
Registration Period: February 8 – March 10 (on a space available basis)
COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Classes are offered in the format indicated next to their title.
SPRING 2024 SESSION
Classes are for students in grades 7-12.
Fashion Upcycling with Nahdra Ra and Jeury Rosario (on campus)
Make something to suit yourself. A great way to recycle is to upcycle. Students explore hand sewing techniques and basic pattern making to deconstruct, alter, and combine garments into one-of-a-kind fashion pieces. This class will include hand sewing, fashion illustration, research and sustainability. Upcycle garments to give them a new life. Sewing machines are not necessary for this class.
Printmaking with Danielle Richard (on campus)
Learn about the transfer of imagery through the tradition of printmaking.This elective focuses on the monotype. Experiment with color and composition using a variety of techniques. Students are introduced to sustainable approaches to printmaking, and assist each other in this collaborative art practice.
Drawing in Galleries (on campus)
Explore traditional and innovative ways to work from life and the human figure. Render the observed world through a variety of creative exercises that explore technical and personal perspectives. The course may be used to strengthen portfolios for college application. A variety of media and styles are presented. All models used in this course will be clothed.
Stories in Motion with Camilo Cardenas and John Quirk (virtual)
Take a look around you and find the stories that are hidden at your fingertips: from your daily routines, to your dreams. Learn to craft a story from your personal experiences. Students will capture video, be introduced to basic animation and film language and editing tools. Collaboration through group discussions and activities will help students unpack their story lines. What’s your story?
PROGRAM INFORMATION AND COST
Spring 2023 Program Fee: $357
Materials and supplies not included in the program fee and are purchased by the participant. Assistance with supplies is available.
Payment is due in full by April 7, 2023.
Dropping & Refund Policy
Students will receive a full refund if the class is dropped by March 10. Students who fail to notify MassArt Youth Programs of their registration cancellation in writing to k12@massart.edu prior to this date, will not be eligible for a refund.
