Policies & Resources
Learn about access to college resources, and college policies for Professional and Continuing Education students.
Learn more about what resources are available to you as a PCE student, as well as the broader MassArt policies that apply to you. Current PCE students with active ID cards have access to many benefits off campus, such as museum access, discounts, and the library.
Discounts with a MassArt ID
Blick gives a discount for students and professional educators.
Students get discounts for computers and other technology-related purchases.
You will be contacted by email or phone in the event that your PCE class is canceled.
In some instances, PCE may need to adjust course schedules, faculty and course content. Students will be told about any major changes.
PCE classes are developed for adults and may have adult themes and content. Please see Youth & Teen Programs for offerings appropriate for students under age 18. To enroll in a PCE class, students under the age of 18 need their guardian’s permission.
Some classes in PCE are offered for college credit. Most credit courses can be taken for graduate credit (500 or above) with additional or different requirements as specified by the faculty. Studio foundation courses are undergraduate credit only.
Students who enroll in a for-credit class for zero credit, are auditing. They participate in all course activities, including lectures and critiques, but do not receive a grade or any formal evaluation of performance. A non-credit enrollment may be changed to credit no later than before the second class meeting, and vice versa.
Semester grades are only available through MassArt Self-Service, which students access with their NetID.
If you are unable to log in, please contact Tech Central. Note that the College has a dual grading system.
Students wishing to transfer credits to another institution or to the MassArt BFA program are advised to consult with their registrar or dean prior to enrollment. Courses taken through CE are subject to transfer credit review and restrictions.
Prices for all credit classes offered through Continuing Education are a combination of tuition and fee. Prices for non-credit classes are fee only. Waivers (see below) apply only to tuition.
The refund deadline for all classes is one week (7 days) before the first class meets.
Sometimes students need to cancel a registration (drop a class). To drop a class:
- At least 7 days before your first class meets, write to ce@massart.edu. Requests cannot be made over the phone or in person, or by anyone other than the registered student. Not attending class will not initiate a refund.
- Include your first and last name, and the name of the course.
In rare cases, such as a death in the family or a medical emergency, a refund may be approved. Include appropriate documentation from a third party with the request.
No refunds are given for requests received after the end of a course, for any reason.
If PCE cancels a course due to low enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances, registered students will receive a full refund. Refunds may take up to 6 weeks to process.
Please note that Continuing Education, Certificate, and Graduate courses and programs are not state supported. If you believe you are eligible for a tuition waiver, please submit documentation of the applicable tuition waiver such as a completed and signed tuition waiver form to the PCE or Graduate Program office for review. Registration using waivers is space available only.
Continuing Education does not offer loans or scholarships for individual classes. MassArt students in a Certificate or Degree Program that offers financial aid may be eligible for aid when registered for six or more credits during the semester. Read more about Certificate Financial Aid.
MassArt assists all qualified students who are in need of accommodations related to a disability. If you feel you meet these requirements and need assistance, please email us at ce@massart.edu.
MassArt uses Rave, an emergency management notification system. Enter your contact information for alerts on campus closures due to inclement weather or an emergency.
Official and unofficial transcripts are available for $10 each. Transcripts take two to five days to process.
