Cost of Attendance (2025-2026)

Your cost of attendance (COA) includes both billed (direct) costs and estimated (indirect) expenses like supplies and personal costs.

The “On-Campus Housing and Food (Meal Plan)” amount is the average cost of living in a MassArt residence hall with a Silver declining balance meal plan; the actual cost of on-campus housing and food (meal plan) will vary by room assignment.

For students living off campus, the estimated Living Expenses amount for housing & food is adjusted to $16,268

For students living at home or with relatives, the estimated Living Expenses amount for housing and food is adjusted to $4,880 and the Transportation amount is adjusted to $3,314

If you apply for financial aid and are accepted to MassArt, you will receive a personalized COA in your financial aid offer based on your residency and living situation

If your circumstances change, please inform the Office of Student Financial Assistance and we can adjust your COA accordingly.

The following expenses may be added to a student’s Cost of Attendance, if applicable:

  • Professional Licensure, or certification costs

  • Dependent care expenses
  • Disability-related costs
  • Study Abroad expenses
  • Cooperative education costs

Late Fee$200 for late registration or unpaid balances

Charged to all students going through late registration, regardless of the cause and/or failure to properly pay or satisfy student accounts by due date.
Returned Check Fee$30 per returned check

*Students must petition for Less-Than Regular Charge if they wish to enroll for 6 credits or less (60% of Regular Charge). Enrollment over 6 credits is full time tuition charge.

The Net Price Calculator estimates your financial contribution to attend MassArt. Net price is your Cost of Attendance, minus any grants or scholarships for which you may be eligible. The Calculator is for full-time first-year college students who are US Citizens or permanent residents.

Note: this is just an estimate. The actual cost of your education will vary based on many factors, including whether you meet application and aid deadlines, the levels of funding available when you apply, and the portfolio score you receive at the time of admission.

How to Apply for Financial Aid
  1. Submit the FAFSA: Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as early as possible. The priority deadline is March 1.
  2. Review Your Student Aid Report (SAR). Make sure your information is accurate
  3. Respond to Any Requests: We may need additional documentation to complete your file.
