Undergraduate Cost of Attendance

If you apply for financial aid and are accepted to MassArt, you’ll receive a personalized COA in your Offer Letter in Financial Aid Self Service that lists:

  • Tuition and fees payable to MassArt 
  • An estimate for housing and food for renting an off campus apartment
  • Books, course materials, supplies and equipment, including the cost of a computer (for
    incoming students)
  • Transportation
  • Miscellaneous personal expenses

We calculate your COA based on your residency status as well as the information you provide about your living arrangements. If your living arrangements change, please notify the Office of Student Financial Assistance so we can update your COA.

*The “On-Campus Housing and Food (Meal Plan)” amount is the average cost of living in a MassArt residence hall with a Silver declining balance meal plan; the actual cost of on-campus housing and food (meal plan) will vary by room assignment.

**The “Estimated computer expense for remote/hybrid learning” is only included in incoming student budgets.

For students living off campus, the “Living Expenses (housing and food) (non-billed expense)” amount is adjusted to $15,960.

For students living at home or with relatives, the “Living Expenses (housing and food)
(non-billed expense)” amount is adjusted to $4,788 and the “Transportation (non-billed expense)” amount is adjusted to $3,250.

 

The following expenses may be added to a student’s Cost of Attendance, if applicable:

  • Federal Student Loan Fees
  • Professional licensure, certification, or a first professional credential costs
  • Health Insurance
  • Dependent care
  • Disability-related expenses
  • Study Abroad expenses
  • Cooperative education costs

Student Charge – Charged to every Day Student enrolled for the semester based on Residency Status.

Students must petition for Less-Than Regular Charge if they wish to enroll for 6 credits or less (60% of Regular Charge). Enrollment over 6 credits is full time tuition charge.

MassArt Capital Fee – Charged to every Day Student enrolled for the semester.
$400 Yearly Fee – Charged $200 in the Fall semester & $200 in the Spring semester

Insurance Charge – Every student enrolled in 9 credits or more MUST either enroll in State
insurance or submit an insurance waiver. Fall charge is for the full year.

Housing Charge – Charged if residing in College Housing for the semester. Students should be
fulltime to reside in the College Housing. Rates vary according to Hall & Room configuration.

Dining Charge – Charged if residing in College Housing for the semester. Plan based on Hall & Room
enrollment

$200 Late Fee – Charged to all students going through late registration, regardless of the cause.
AND / OR Failure to properly pay or satisfy student account by due date.

$30 Returned Check Fee – Charged for each check returned from the bank as unacceptable.
