Student Affinity Groups

The Office of Justice, Equity, and Transformation (JET) is committed to supporting and providing affinity space for students to come together, build community, talk about issues, celebrate cultures, and share resources.

Affinity groups allow students who share an identity—usually a marginalized identity—to gather, talk in a safe space about issues related to that identity, and transfer that discussion into action that makes for a more equitable experience at school.

Below is a listing of MassArt’s student affinity groups. If you are interested in joining any of these groups or starting a new group, then let us know by completing this interest form.

If you have ideas for programming and community building, then JET staff and JET Student Leaders are here to support you. Email for more information.

Queer Artist Collective (QAC)

The Queer Artist Collective is comprised of a group of students on MassArt’s campus who identify within the LGBTQ+ community. The hope for this group is to provide continued support for queer students and allow them a safe space to gather, share ideas, critique work, celebrate, learn, and build community.

Black Artist Union (BAU)

The Black Artist Union is MassArt’s oldest student lead group on campus. BAU is a community that consists of MassArt undergraduates, graduates, alumni, faculty, and staff. We aim to support each other in whatever ways possible and share our art and voices with the rest of the MassArt community, Boston, and beyond.

The Asian Students Association (ASA) of MassArt serves to encourage the diversity of our community by uniting all people who share a collective interest in learning, respecting, and understanding the diversity of Asia and Asian American cultures.

Follow ASA on Instagram to learn more about upcoming meetings and events.

Email Cody Tu at with any questions or to be invited to ASA's Slack channel.
