Shops & Resources

Students in the Sculpture and Fine Arts programs have access to MassArt’s Metal Shop, clay figure studio, plaster studio, woodshop, and majors studios.

The Metal Shop is a shared 3D facility in the Collins building, divided into four areas. In the Foundry, students cast molten bronze, aluminum, or copper into ceramic molds. The Forge area includes coal and gas forges for blacksmithing, bladesmithing, and advanced metalworking. The Welding area offers tables for layout and fabrication, a 2 ton overhead crane, and a 48” x 96” CNC Plasma Cutter. The Machining area incorporates a CNC mill and lathe.

Woodshop

Located on the lower level of the Design and Media Center, MassArt’s Woodshop offers students from all areas of the College access to professional tools and equipment.
