Interdisciplinary Fine Arts

Events

The Interdisciplinary Fine Arts program supports two major annual event series: the January Colloquium and Reviews, and the Summer Lecture Series.

January Colloquium and Reviews

Every winter, students in MassArt’s MFA: Fine Arts Low Residency program gather virtually for an intensive five-day colloquium and review, organized around a theme and featuring guest speakers and visiting artists. Topics are grounded in contemporary studio practice, art history, art theory, and expanded fields of study, and provide a lens for discussion. Students present their work for review by program faculty, guest critics, and select mentors; guide discussions, and provide feedback for their peers.

Summer Lecture Series

The Interdisciplinary Fine Arts MFA hosts a Summer Lecture Series featuring artists, curators, and scholars who present their work to our community—and many also meet with our students for one-on-one and group critiques. From emerging to mid-career to well established artists, we seek out voices and perspectives that can open new worlds for students and shift the way they view their own practice. These lectures are open to the MassArt community and the general public.
