Primers

A Primer is a student leader who will serve as an Orientation guide and support you throughout the academic year. During Orientation, every first-year student and foundation transfer will be assigned to a Primer who will accompany you to sessions, answer your questions and help you transition to the MassArt community.

Primers represent a wide range of academic disciplines and are extremely resourceful. They are excited about getting to know you and assisting you in any way they can. Each Foundation student will be placed in a group with other new students that is led by a Primer during Orientation. Upperclass Transfer students will not be assigned a specific Primer but the Lead Primers will be reaching out to you and will serve as a resource for you.

Your Primer will be setting up some group meetings and game nights over Discord, but is also available to answer questions via email. If you are new to Discord, they will provide you with guidance on how to log in. Many MassArt faculty use Discord to connect with their classes, so this will give you a head start on becoming familiar with this platform.
