Every August the College hosts orientation for all incoming students. The Office of Transition and Leadership Programs collaborates with the International Education Center and Graduate Programs to plan a structured program with different tracks for first-time freshmen & foundation transfer students, upperclass transfer students, international students and graduate students to integrate MassArt’s newest students into the academic, social and artistic community. Orientation is a required program for new students, designed to foster relationship building among students, student leaders, faculty, staff and administrators.

Welcome to MassArt, Class of 2022!

Important Dates

Move-In Day
Move-In for all new students will occur on September 1, 2018.

Overall, move-in occurs between 7:00am-12:30pm, however, resident students will receive an email to their MassArt email accounts with their move-in time and parking instructions in early August.

Students must arrive during their assigned time slot. If you are early, you will have to wait until your assigned time to move-in. If you are late, you will have to wait until after 12:30pm when the move-in process is completed.

We thank you in advance for your compliance with the process, as move-in day at a college located in the city can be challenging. This process has resulted in many years of smooth move-in experiences for our new students and their families.

Orientation Primers

What is a Primer?
A Primer is a student leader who serves as an orientation guide and supports you throughout the academic year. During orientation, every first-time freshman & foundation transfer is assigned to a Primer who accompanies you to sessions, answers questions and helps you transition into the MassArt community. Primers represent a wide range of academic disciplines and are extremely resourceful. They are excited about getting to know you and assisting you in any way they can.

Lead Primers are students who have served as a Primer in the past and are hired to work with the Director of Transition and Leadership Programs to hire the Primer staff, plan the logistics of the event and work behind the scenes to make sure the Orientation program goes successfully for our incoming students and their families. The Lead Primers do not have student groups like the Primers do.
