Your Primer is your base coat of paint within your MassArt experience. They are a student leader who will guide and support you throughout your Orientation experience and your transition into the academic year.

During Orientation, every first-year student and foundation-year transfer will be assigned to a Primer who will accompany you to sessions, answer your questions and help you transition to the MassArt community. Upperclass Transfer students will not be assigned a specific Primer, but will be contact by the Lead Primers who will serve as their connection and resource.

The Primer team represents a wide range of academic disciplines, campus involvement, identities, and life experiences. We hope you're able to see yourself and your future success at MassArt in the Primer team. They are excited about getting to know you and assisting you in any way they can.

The Primers will oversee a group Discord beginning in July. This is a great first point to make connections with fellow incoming students, and your Primers will host game nights and activities on Discord over the Summer to begin breaking the ice and preparing you for your arrival in September. If you are new to Discord, they will provide you with guidance on how to log in. Many MassArt faculty use Discord to connect with their classes, so this will give you a head start on becoming familiar with this platform.
