Orientation
Welcome to the start of your MassArt journey. We can’t wait to see where it takes you.
Orientation is an exciting time at MassArt— a chance for new students to connect, celebrate, and explore everything that the College has to offer. Orientation information is not yet available for Spring or Fall 2025. Please check back for more information.
Primers
During Orientation, every first-year student and foundation-year transfer is assigned a Primer. Why a Primer? Think of them as a smooth base coat of paint that will help prepare you to pick up a brush and dive right into learning and making at MassArt.
Throughout your orientation experience, you can count on your Primer to be a trusted source of personal guidance and support. They’ll accompany you to information sessions, answer questions, and help you connect with the MassArt community.
The Primer team is a group of student leaders who reflect the full spectrum of academic interests, backgrounds, identities, and life experiences that make MassArt the incredible place that it is. Above all, they’re friendly, helpful, and ready to assist you however they can.
Please note that although upper-class transfer students will not be assigned a specific Primer, the Lead Primers will be in touch to provide any information and support they might need as they settle into life at MassArt.
Discord Channel
As another way to support students, the Primer team will launch a group Discord channel beginning in July, providing a convenient, informal platform to chat and get to know one another. Your Primers will host game nights and other activities via Discord over the summer, which are excellent opportunities for you and your classmates to get to know each other. (New to Discord? No problem—your Primers will show you how to log in and use the platform.)
New Student Move In
All new students living on campus will move into their dorms on Thursday, August 29th. Check your MassArt email for residence hall move-in details from the Office of Housing and Residence Life.
