Billing Deadlines

Your fall semester bill will be available in July, and spring bill in November. Your student bill will list the payment due date (generally 3 weeks after the bills are issued). Settling bills by the due date ensures enrollment in pre-registered classes and a smooth start to the semester.

Late Payment

Failure to meet payment requirements by the deadline will result in students being charged a $200 late fee.

If the bill remains unpaid, we will need to drop your class schedule and you will not be allowed to move into on campus housing. Students will not be allowed reinstatement back into classes/housing until the bill has been paid in full.

Tuition Insurance Plan

What happens when your student’s education is disrupted by an unexpected injury or illness? Depending on the timing of the withdrawal, you may not be eligible to receive a refund of all of your tuition, fees, room and board from MassArt.

GradGuard’s Tuition Insurance Plan complements MassArt’s existing refund policy, and we believe students and/or families will benefit from this added protection by offering reimbursement for tuition, housing and other applicable out of pocket payments should a student need to withdraw for any covered illness, injury or mental health at any time during the semester.

The GradGuard Tuition Protection Plan is offered to MassArt students as a voluntary student benefit to complement the institution’s published existing refund policy. MassArt is not compensated for this program. Our partnership with GradGuard provides students who choose to enroll in the program with expanded benefits and reduced cost.

Tuition insurance is completely optional.

We encourage all students and families to carefully review coverage details on the GradGuard website before purchasing. The insurance agreement is between you and GradGuard. MassArt is not a party to the agreement.

The deadline to apply for the tuition protection insurance plan is the day before the first day of classes each semester.

GradGuard’s optional Tuition Protection Plan broadens the scope of the MassArt’s existing refund policy by ensuring reimbursement for tuition, housing and other payments if a student withdraws for a covered medical reason such as an illness, accident, or mental health issue at any time during the term.

Covered medical reasons include:

  • Serious injury or illness, including mononucleosis, COVID-19, or severe head injuries
  • Chronic illness, including diabetes or autoimmune disorders
  • Mental health conditions, including depression or anxiety
  • Death of tuition payer

Students and/or families choose their own coverage limit based on their unique circumstances. Reimbursement can include:

  • Tuition payments
  • Room and board (on or off-campus)
  • Other academic fees
