Community Food Resources
Supplying basic needs for our students, so they can focus on what’s important to them.
The Shelf is MassArt’s food insecurity resource, open to all MassArt students, offering free non-perishable food and toiletries.
Hours & InformationThe Shelf is funded directly through grants The MassArt Foundation, as well as the MassArt Community as a whole. Through direct student input, The Shelf has taken strides to break the stigma around food insecurity, while still providing anonymity.
Food insecurity is an increasingly common challenge with which many people, including our students, are struggling. Over the years, The Shelf has increased its reach by:
- Expanding food options
- Moving to a larger, more accessible space inside the Commuter Cafe
- Providing free menstrual products through a partnership with Dignity Matters
- Offering students online grocery shopping through SmartChoice Pantry
Other resources are available to students in the Boston area. If you have any questions, members of the Student Development team are happy to help! Visit Kennedy 230 or email student.development@massart.edu.
