Vicki Klupchak, LICSW (she/her)

Vicki Klupchak is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Smith College School for Social Work in Northampton, MA in 2014 and has an undergraduate degree in Psychology with concentrations in Mental Health Services and Women’s Studies from Worcester State University. Prior to coming to MassArt, Vicki worked at the Justice Resource Institute for 9 years, which included working as a clinician in both an intensive group home for young adults and in a therapeutic day school with students who had significant social and emotional concerns along with learning disabilities. Vicki has extensive experience in crisis intervention and facilitation of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion trainings in educational settings and is dedicated to providing culturally responsive and inclusive treatment and direction for the MassArt Counseling Center. Vicki uses a strengths-based, trauma-informed and relational approach to therapy. In her free time, Vicki enjoys cooking plant-based meals and baking sourdough bread, ping pong, swimming, playing with her two dogs, and going to concerts.

Scott Thomson

Scott Thomson is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and has been practicing for 9 years. Scott received his Master of Social Work from Boston College and his Bachelor of Social Work from Ramapo College of New Jersey. Prior to joining the MassArt community, Scott had worked at several non-profits serving the city of Boston and in private practice seeing young adults for individual counseling. Scott’s approach to counseling is relationally focused, building therapeutic relationships on care and trust. Scott pulls from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy grounded in cultural competence and a strengths-based perspective. Scott’s clinical interests include working with neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ clients. In his free time, Scott can be found in nature, playing video games, or trying new restaurants around Boston.

Laura Bustos Ortiz, LCSW (she/her)

Laura is a Clinical Social Worker who completed her education at Boston University, earning an MSW from the School of Social Work as well as a BA in Sociology with a minor in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Laura is interested in a holistic, feminist, and social justice-oriented approach to psychotherapy that acknowledges the larger systems that may interfere with an individual’s well-being. Her therapeutic approach is collaborative and strengths-based in order to help students at MassArt feel supported and empowered. Her clinical interests include helping students navigate interpersonal relationships, generational trauma, identity development, and life transitions. As an immigrant from Colombia, she is also interested in unpacking the effects of intersectionality and immigration on mental health. In her spare time, Laura enjoys taking naps, watching movies, playing video/board games, watching futbol, and going to concerts.

Jessica Visconti is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and expressive arts therapist. Jessica completed her education at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Expressive Arts Therapy with a minor in Psychology, and a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling with a Specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy. Prior to coming to MassArt, Jessica has worked as an outpatient therapist, developed CreativeGrounding, an arts and mindfulness based program with Bristol Community College. Additionally, she has worked in outpatient substance abuse treatment, and other community based work in the greater Boston area. Jessica is passionate about mental health advocacy and finding creative ways to help students connect with community resources. Outside of mental health work, Jessica enjoys spending time with friends and family, cooking and eating new foods, dancing, traveling, and spending time at the beach.

Nicole holds a B.S. in Communications with a concentration in Advertising from Salem State University. Prior to joining MassArt, Nicole worked with assisting first-generation and low-income high school aged youth at a college access program for six years. She also worked at various publishing companies in sales and marketing. In her spare time, Nicole enjoys baking, cooking, reading, traveling, and attending book events.

Cindy Ryan is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and expressive arts therapist. Cindy holds a Masters in Counseling from Lesley University, Cambridge, MA. an advanced degree in Graphic Design from Basel School of Design in Switzerland, and a BA in Fine Arts, minor in Political Science from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. Cindy runs a private practice and sees clients virtually; she also meets with students in person at MassArt’s Counseling Center. Cindy takes a ‘person-centered’ approach to counseling and likes to combine strength-based, psychodynamic and cognitive techniques so that her clients can benefit from new strategies and insights. Her past experience includes working with people dealing with medical trauma, grief and loss, as well as anxiety and depression. In her free time, Cindy is a gardener, bee-keeper and fine-artist.

Matteo Montero-Murillo (he/him/his)

Clinical Trainee

Matteo is a second-year clinical social work intern from Boston University School of Social Work. He completed his BA in Spanish with honors in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Moravian University, where he also completed an honors thesis about transmasculine sexual experience/intimacy. Matteo’s therapeutic approach is grounded in intersectionality, queer theory, abolition/non-carceral frameworks, and Liberation Health practices. He is interested in helping clients repair harm, unpack shame, develop identities, and find ways to live as their authentic selves. As a child of Mexican immigrants, Matteo is open to working with other children of immigrants/immigrants to provide support for the unique challenges that come with the identity experiences. Outside of the office, Matteo can be found drawing comics and fanart, listening to metal music a little too loudly, watching cat videos, and playing Minecraft.

Maxwell Krims (he/him/his)

Clinical Trainee

Maxwell Krims is a second-year Master of Social Work \ Intern studying at Boston University with an undergraduate degree in Anthropology from Brandeis University. Before joining the MassArt Counseling Center team, Maxwell was employed as a Lead Clinician at Mount Prospect Academy in Medford, MA. There, Maxwell provided therapeutic services with individuals and families experiencing histories of trauma and developmental differences. In his practice, Maxwell emphasizes the use of self-expression and compassion to approach life challenges, and he has extensive experience researching disability justice on college campuses. Outside of his mental health practice, Maxwell loves to compose music and collect shells.
