Art Education

The Art Education department embodies a critical, studio-centric approach to visual arts education.
Our undergraduate and graduate programs prioritize justice and equity while emphasizing engaged studio practice, social activism, and expansive scholarship.
We prepare our students to facilitate pedagogy that is authentic to the dynamics of contemporary visual arts and to be generous, nimble, resourceful, and reflective practitioners.
We celebrate our urban context, and particularly the Boston Public Schools, with whom we share a historical partnership. Our students catalyze inclusive, active, and activist learning for all, across educational contexts and environments.

Master of Education
The Master of Education is a 30-credit, seven week low-residency program that qualifies students who already hold an initial teaching license to apply for a Massachusetts professional teaching license.
