President Mary Grant joined The Culture Show with Jared Bowen on July 30 for a lively conversation touching on creativity, entrepreneurship, federal funding, and free expression in the arts.

President Grant weighed in on the national conversation around federal arts funding, referencing recent reports in The Boston Globe, the Center for American Progress, and The New York Times, about frozen federal support and the controversy surrounding the Amy Sherald exhibition at the Smithsonian, now rescheduled at the Whitney Museum. She explored what these developments mean for colleges like MassArt and the role of institutions, and artists, in standing up for creative and artistic expression.

As always, MassArt is grateful to Jared Bowen and our friends at GBH for the vital work they do to spotlight the power of the arts in Boston and beyond.

Listen to President Grant’s segment beginning at 37:30.
