MassArt alum Connor O’Malley, BFA ’26, Communication Design, has been selected as one of two student artists whose work will appear on 250 limited-edition Bluebikes across Greater Boston as part of Boston 250 celebrations this summer.

Created through a partnership between Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Bluebikes, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and UMass Boston, the initiative highlights student perspectives on healthier people, healthier communities, and a healthier environment. O’Malley’s winning design, inspired by childhood memories along Boston Harbor, reflects the harbor’s environmental transformation and its enduring connection to the city.

The custom-wrapped bikes will be available throughout the Bluebikes system through mid-August, bringing student-created artwork into neighborhoods across the region while encouraging residents and visitors to participate in Boston 250 events and celebrations. In recognition of his work, O’Malley received a financial award to support his education, and MassArt received a donation to support student success.

“Connor’s design creatively engages with important issues like environmental stewardship while inviting people to experience Boston in a new way,” said MassArt President Mary K. Grant. “His work reflects the important role artists and designers play in shaping healthier, more connected places.”
