MassArt alum Doug Ansine ’15 returned to campus to celebrate the launch of the Brain Child x Reebok DMX Series 3000 “Red Nebula,” marking his first sneaker collaboration with the global footwear brand.

Ansine, a Brockton-raised designer and founder of the Boston-based fashion and lifestyle brand Brain Child, developed his creative foundation in Industrial and Product Design at MassArt. During a panel discussion with MassArt Professor Judith Anderson, Reebok Director Greg Korbas, and Vice President of Civic and Community Engagement Lyssa Palu-Ay, he reflected on the persistence, personal history, and community support behind the project.

Inspired by music, anime, Japanese visual culture, and Ansine’s own creative journey, the “Red Nebula” blends bold color, layered materials, and Reebok’s DMX Moving Air technology. The collaboration builds on Brain Child’s multidisciplinary approach to fashion, storytelling, and community-building.

The event also highlighted Boston’s thriving creative ecosystem and Ansine’s commitment to building his career locally. Returning to MassArt as a designer, entrepreneur, and collaborator, he encouraged emerging artists to remain committed to their ideas, invest in their communities, and challenge the assumption that creative success requires leaving Boston.
