“Unfinished” takes its name from a series Carolyn Shasha & Tereza Swanda of unfinished portraits by Carolyn Shasha of individuals who passed away from COVID-19 (taken from the New York Times COVID obituary series). Juxtaposed with abstract watercolor paintings they represent the human life tragically cut short.
“Rebirth,” the second half of this exhibition by Tereza Swanda, examines a continuum reconsidering death. Swanda pushes the boundaries of drawing to trace the action of being alive and contemplates our interconnection.
Swanda is a local artist. She holds an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts and BFA in Painting and Sculpture from Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
