Industrial design (ID) is the professional service of creating and developing concepts and specifications that optimize the function, value and appearance of products and systems for the mutual benefit of both user and manufacturer.
The IDSA (Industrial Designers Society of America) is a student chapter of the IDSA organization. We aim to further reinforce and develop connections between our own aspiring Design students and already practicing professionals. By scheduling inclusive events and seminars (such as guest speaker panels and the regional IDSA conference), we hope to provide greater exposure to the Design fields, while simultaneously supplementing our current education with beneficial real-world practice and experience. This will help to promote MassArt's reputation for producing qualified, capable graduates both to the industry and employers and will help serve as a channel for inter-departmental communication and camaraderie.
IDSA at MassArt works hand in hand with the SGA group Industrial Design, and the Industrial Design student to make the best experience possible for the students. We try to create fun and beneficial events for students such as artist panels, exhibitions that display our design work, as well as the yearly trip in the spring to the IDSA conference. Stop by the 10th floor to find out more! or visit the IDSA website and the MassArt ID Blog for weekly updates.
