The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers grants to U.S. citizens and non-U.S. citizens to study, conduct research, or teach abroad for one academic year. The program partners with more than 140 countries and provides opportunities for graduating college seniors, graduate students, young professionals, and artists.
MassArt seniors about to graduate and recent alums are encouraged to consider applying to this prestigious award.
Awards given by the U.S. Department of State to support self-designed study, research or artistic projects or English-language teaching assistantships. Over 130 countries offer Fulbright grants.
- U.S. citizenship at the time of application
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree, equivalent training, or professional experience by grant start date (Ph.D. holders are not eligible)
- Must be in “good health” (as defined by the Fulbright sponsoring agency)
- Country-specific eligibility requirements may exist such as language ability or degree of study
- Round-trip transportation to the host country
- Funding to cover room, board, and incidental costs, based on the cost of living in the host country
- Accident & Sickness Health Benefits
- In some countries, grants may also include, book and research allowances, mid-term enrichment activities, full or partial tuition, language study programs, pre-departure and in-country orientations
You are eligible to apply as a MassArt Affiliated Candidate if you are currently matriculated in MassArt’s BFA or on-campus graduate programs and you are in your final year of your program OR you graduated from MassArt’s BFA or on-campus graduate programs within the past 5 years. In all other cases, you must apply as an at-large candidate or through another institution.
