Paul Paturzo is a Professor of Architecture and former Dean of Graduate Studies at MassArt. He holds a Master’s Degree in Architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was honored with the Alpha Rho Chi award for leadership and the Chandler Prize for achievement in architectural design. After completing his degree, he served as a Senior Lecturer at MIT for several years.

Paul’s professional practice encompasses new construction, adaptive reuse, and land use studies for large parcels, with a strong emphasis on conservation. He has collaborated with local professionals and environmental experts in the United States, Belize, and Tanzania to develop Master Plans for equestrian centers, schools for environmental studies, and strategic development plans that link land conservation with local economic opportunities.

In addition to his client-based projects, Paul maintains a creative practice that explores how design principles in architecture translate to other disciplines and the role of digital fabrication tools in the design process. His current work focuses on small-scale design projects utilizing materials salvaged from building demolition.

During the 2024/25 academic year, Paul is a member of MassArt’s Learning and Teaching Center where he is researching culturally responsive teaching methods in art and design curricula.

At MassArt, Paul teaches drawing, sustainable architecture, and studio courses that leverage the school’s fabrication labs.
