Lisa Prout’s research interests focus on migration history, and the lived social and economic experiences of those who immigrate to the United States. In particular, she is interested in the varied social and economic trials among booming first-generation Latinx communities throughout the United States. Lisa also enjoys learning about the participation of Boston’s diverse immigrant populations in the local workforce during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

With a background in social studies education at the secondary level, Lisa is committed to bringing history and human experience to life for her students, and engaging them in analysis that considers the influences that shape life in various parts of the world.

Lisa holds a BS from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an ALM from Harvard University. In her leisure time, she enjoys running, traveling, and reading historical fiction.

In the MassArt Humanities Department, Lisa teaches history courses focused on Latinx voices and histories.
