His artworks are in the permanent collections of the world’s major museums — The Metropolitan Museum in NYC, The British Museum in London, The Albertina in Vienna, The Dresden State Art Museum, the renowned Pushkin State MFA, and the Museum of Fine Arts Boston (61 works) are among them.

Steinmetz published fiction and non-fiction and collaborated, as a writer, with well-known European filmmakers. He has also written and illustrated a number of children’s books in the US and England. In his teaching he follows the “Socratic Method,” challenges students to question everything, and encourages their curiosity, imagination and diligence.

In the MassArt Humanities program, Professor Steinmetz teaches Children’s Literature and Russian Short-Story, among other courses.
