Artist and educator Jeffrey Nowlin is a fiber artist and sculptor whose work investigates the social systems that impact daily life. As an educator, he designs learning environments that offer students a place for personal expression and critical thinking through the process of making.

Nowlin shows extensively with i3C, a climate awareness and activist artist group founded in 2020, whose purpose is to engender dialogue and action around the climate crisis, species degradation, and the fast fashion industry’s impact on the climate. He also exhibits work with the Boston Sculptors Gallery and the Kingston Gallery as an associate member. Dedicated to community engagement, Nowlin currently sits on the executive board of the Piano Craft Gallery, Inc. This community gallery includes a comprehensive arts and education program located in the historic Pianoforte Manufactury in the Boston/Roxbury neighborhood.

Jeffrey Nowlin earned an MFA in Fine Arts 3D at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2019, and a BFA in sculpture from Boston University in 2010. Nowlin. When not in the studio or classroom, Nowlin enjoys distance running, travel, and studying Spanish, German and Swedish.

In the Humanities Department at MassArt, Jeffrey Nowlin teaches Thinking Making Writing. 

Nowlin also teaches in the Art Education program at MassArt, at both undergraduate and graduate level. His courses include Foundation Sculpture, Foundation Drawing, and Interdisciplinary Studios and Social and Cultural Contexts.
