Common Good Award Recipient Shares Inspiration, Motivation

Rites of Passage and Empowerment, or R.O.P.E founder and Common Good Awards Honoree Shirley Edgerton discusses the inspiration for her work – impacting the lives of young women and girls of color in Pittsfield, Mass.

Ahead of receiving her award, MassArt President Mary Grant praises Edgerton’s commitment to showing young people what is possible.

“Those are life-changing, confidence-building, really empowering activities that bring together art and education to make a difference in the lives of these young women and in the work that they’re doing,” Grant said.
