Health Insurance

If you are enrolled in nine or more credits, you must enroll in the MassArt’s Health Insurance Plans OR submit an insurance waiver.

If your program begins in the summer term, you will be charged for each month you are enrolled in summer classes. 

You will be charged in the fall for the full academic year.

If you apply for financial aid and are accepted to MassArt, you will receive a personalized COA in your financial aid offer based on your residency and living situation

If your circumstances change, please inform the Office of Student Financial Assistance and we can adjust your COA accordingly.

The following expenses may be added to a student’s Cost of Attendance, if applicable:

  • Federal loan fees
  • Professional Licensure, or certification costs
  • Health Insurance
  • Dependent care expenses
  • Disability-related costs
  • Study Abroad expenses
  • Cooperative education costs

ChargeDescription
Tuition & FeesIn 2026-2027, all graduate students are charged a flat rate per credit cost of $945, regardless of residency. Certain programs may charge an additional fee for a course, materials, or use of lab space.
Health InsuranceRequired unless waived (for students enrolled in 9+ credits)
Housing ChargeCharged if residing in college housing for the semester. Rates vary according to residence hall & room configuration
Dining ChargeCharged if residing in college housing for the semester. Plan based on residency hall & room enrollment
Late Fee$200 for late registration or unpaid balances

Charged to all students going through late registration, regardless of the cause and/or failure to properly pay or satisfy student accounts by due date
Returned Check Fee$30 per returned check

Graduate Types of Financial Aid

We offer several types of aid to help make your education more affordable:

  • MassArt Graduate Scholarships: Merit-based and need-based scholarships for graduate students based on academic achievement and financial need.
  • Graduate Assistantships: Offers paid opportunities for graduate students to gain experience in teaching, research, studio management and/or curatorial support or administration
  • Student Loans: Must be repaid with interest

  1. Submit the FAFSA: Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine your eligibility for federal and institutional aid.
  2. Review your FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS). Make sure your information is accurate.
  3. Respond to any requests: We may need additional documentation to complete your file.

Eligibility for financial aid at MassArt is based on several factors:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  • Be enrolled, or accepted for enrollment, in a graduate program at MassArt.
  • Be enrolled at least half-time (six credits per semester).
