Friday, August 9 – Boston, MA – Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) today announced that Governor Maura Healey has appointed former Massachusetts State Auditor Suzanne Bump to the MassArt Board of Trustees.
“Trustee Bump has been an active and engaged member of the MassArt Foundation Board and the MassArt Auction Committee and brings a deep and rich background in public service to the role of Trustee,” said MassArt President Mary K. Grant. “In her role as the state’s chief accountability officer, she was committed to making government work better and thereby building public trust in the government’s capacity for self-examination and self-correction. We are proud to have someone of her caliber join our Board.”
“We are thrilled to welcome Trustee Bump and look forward to her contributions and leadership. Her vast expertise and lengthy experience in the Commonwealth’s public sector will lend an invaluable perspective to our Board,” said Board of Trustees Chair Karen Keane.
Trustee Bump completed a 12-year tenure as Massachusetts’ State Auditor in 2023 and was the first woman to hold the position. Prior to serving as Auditor, Bump served as Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development to Governor Deval Patrick.
Trustee Bump has also served as a state representative, private sector attorney, and member of several non-profit boards. Her career has spanned policy-making, regulated industry compliance, program administration, human services program delivery, and government accountability.
Additionally, she is the recipient of numerous awards, including the NSAA Excellence in Accountability award, the Abigail Adams award from the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus, the “Woman of the Decade” award from Emerge Massachusetts, and the “Woman of Justice” award from Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. Bump is a graduate of Boston College and Suffolk University Law School and sits on the board of the Old Colony YMCA and the Easton Cultural Council.
