MassArt Creatives Play a Role in Celtics’ Cultural Influence
The Boston Celtics’ impact extends far beyond the court, shaping community, social justice, and the arts in New England. HBO Max’s Celtics City highlights the team’s commitment to social equity, from Bill Russell’s Civil Rights activism to Jaylen Brown’s 7uice Foundation supporting educational equity. The Celtics also bolster Boston’s creative culture, including through the Black Creators Network and official merchandise — much of which is designed by Massachusetts College of Art and Design students. By supporting local artists and engaging with fans both online and in person, the Celtics demonstrate how sports and art intertwine to define Boston’s identity.
