MassArt Leadership in Civic Engagement Recognized by ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge

President Grant and Student Myka Hubert Honored for Supporting Nonpartisan Student Voter Engagement During the 2024 Election

BOSTON – Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) President Mary K. Grant has received a national award from the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge (ALL IN) for her deep commitment to civic engagement and voter participation. ALL IN supports more than 1,020 campuses nationally to make nonpartisan civic engagement an ongoing part of campus life. MassArt student Myka Hubert ‘26 was also one of 232 college students nationwide recognized for their nonpartisan voter registration, education, and turnout efforts. 

“Whether it’s visiting the Massachusetts State House for an advocacy day or putting together creative programming on Constitution Day, President Grant, Myka, and so many others in our community are making a real impact by championing civic education and active participation in our democracy,” said Brendan O’Bryan, Director of Government and Corporate Relations at MassArt.

Throughout her career, President Grant has been a passionate advocate for the arts, fostering meaningful community partnerships, and promoting civic engagement within higher education. Under her leadership, MassArt continues to find new and innovative ways to integrate civic learning into creative work and support student-led initiatives like MassArtVOTES. President Grant also serves as the Board Chair for the National Campus Compact, an organization dedicated to civic engagement.

Myka Hubert is a student leader at MassArt who is an active contributor to the College’s civic engagement initiatives. As a member of the MassArtVOTES leadership team, Hubert collaborates with peers and staff to promote voter education and participation within the MassArt community with a focus on first-time voter registration in the residence halls.

“Elections matter,” said Jen Domagal-Goldman, Executive Director of the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, “ALL IN campuses continue to ensure that every student has the information they need to cast their ballot. The award winners recognized today lead by example, making nonpartisan voter participation a core part of campus life.”
