Cherie McGill’s research program brings recent work in cognitive science to bear on questions in the philosophy of epistemic justification & the philosophy of mind. Her work focuses on the status of judgments, and she has a particular interest in moral and aesthetic judgments. For example, what cognitive capacities allow us to make and appreciate art, and what is the evolutionary origin of those capacities? She currently teaches a course titled "Minds and Brains," and a course on the "Ethics of Emerging Technologies" at MassArt.
