Sandra Erbacher, a German interdisciplinary artist based in Providence, RI, investigates ideology’s nature and dynamics, focusing on archives as sites of historical production and negotiation. Her installations remix archival fragments to challenge traditional narratives, exposing the limitations of language and image in representing collective experiences. Erbacher holds an MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a BFA from Camberwell College of Art, and both a BA and MA in Sociology from Goldsmiths College, University of London. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center and the International Studio and Curatorial Program, NYC. Recent recognitions include the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture residency and a Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant.

An Assistant Professor of Studio Foundations at MassArt, she creates an inclusive classroom environment, encouraging students to critically examine the sociopolitical structures shaping art and history.
