With a background in sculpture, carpentry, and house framing, Reid places significant value on the role of tool usage and creation within the creative process. Recognizing that the development of tools or jigs is often a necessary step in the creation of art, he emphasizes to his students the importance of this foundational aspect. Reid ensures that his students fully understand and appreciate the extent to which their hands are involved in every stage of creating their work.
