Martha Schnee makes work at the intersection of silkscreen printmaking, drawing, sound, writing, and experimental pedagogy. She performs with her band/art collective sidebody and co-directs sidebody press. Her work explores edges, sonic landscapes, record-keeping, public monuments, epigenetic memory, and speculative histories/futures.

Her work has been published in the New York Times MagazineThe Boston Globe, The Portland Press Herald, as well as with the Harvard Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study.  She has exhibited at museums and galleries nationally and internationally, including The Parrish Art Museum (NY), Kunstraum Kreuzberg (Berlin), Aviatrix Gallery (Berlin), Field Projects (NY), and Gallery 263 (MA) among others. With sidebody, she has performed at DIY venues across New England, as well as at the Institute of Contemporary Art  Boston, the Paradise Rock Club, and the Boston Calling Music Festival (upcoming May 2025).

She was awarded a residency at Vermont Studio Center, was a 2019-2020 recipient of the Leadership in Education Award from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and the 2022 and 2023 Certificate of Distinction in Teaching from Harvard University. She received her honors B.A. in American Cultural Studies from Bates College, her Ed.M in Arts in Education from Harvard University.

She is currently completing her MFA in Painting at Bard College’s Milton Avery Graduate School for the Arts (expected July 2025). She lives and works in Somerville, MA.
