While an accomplished woodworker with a joy in furniture making, Chelsea’s passion is education, With experience teaching a wide range of students from beginners to those aspiring to hone in on a specialized aspect of furniture making.

“My drawings and furniture serve as reflections into the intricacies of human emotion and hardships….I hope to inspire introspection, empathy, and a deeper connection to the differences within the human experience.”

  • Facilitate the development and implementation of new educational programming
  • Organize and run monthly committee meetings, fostering collaboration and effective decision-making among volunteers
  • Manage instructors, assistants, students and Reps for classes
  • Implement strategies to enhance the experience and needs of alumni and future participants

3D Design and Woodworking Teacher: Moorestown Friends School

The 3D Design and Woodworking Teacher is in charge of all curriculum taught in this medium. Teaching students age 10-18:

  • Develop and teach a 3D woodworking design curriculum for grades 5-12
  • Maintain all equipment and tools
  • Order and provide all materials needed (budget and inventory)
  • Mentor and be an advisor for several students on campus yearly
  • Teach design fundamentals
  • Teach proper woodworking techniques
  • Advise students looking into college art programs

Communications Team: The Furniture Society https://furnsoc.org/

  • React and engage the online community through interesting and trending topics related to furniture and the community
  • Post regularly on the FS Instagram account
  • Participate and contribute to Biweekly communications team meetings
  • Attract new members to the community
  • Inform the community of opportunities to further their work and career

Chelsea has also been on the Facilities and Education Committee at “A Workshop of Our Own”, and a Director of the Medomak Family Camp. Chelsea has widely lectured and run numerous workshops including Penland School of Crafts in Penland ME, Haystack School of Crafts in Deer Isle ME, Townsend School of Woodworking in Port Townsend, WA to name a few, and has an extensive exhibitions list and portfolio of work in furniture and drawing.  www.chelseacarinawitt.com
