Knowing your Cost of Attendance (COA) will help you gain a full understanding of the financial investment required to attend MassArt. Your COA is not the amount you will be billed for by the college, but rather the estimated cost of completing a full academic year. While it includes direct costs billed by the college, such as tuition, it also reflects indirect costs such as art supplies, books or personal living expenses.

The total cost of tuition and fees varies by program. You can see the total estimated cost for each program below.

Each 7-week class costs $575

Three-credit classes are typically $1413.

There are three stackable Communication Design Certificates. Tuition including course, credit and fees:
Level 1: 4 courses, totaling 11 credits
Level 2: 4 courses, totaling 10 credits
Level 3: 5 courses, totaling 12 credits
The credit cost is $478 per credit
Non-credit course costs vary based on course length
The fees per class vary between $240 and $350
As of Summer 2024* the total cost for Level 1 including fees, but not including materials, is approximately $6,218; for Level 2, $6,035; for Level 3, $6,936.
Students typically take 6 credits per semester, but this is not required.
Payment for classes is due only upon registration.

Fashion Design Certificate tuition including course, credit and fees:
The Fashion Design Certificate consists of 10 courses, totaling 29 credits
The credit cost is $478 per credit
The fees per class are $240 or $350
The total cost for the program including fees, but not including materials, is approximately $16,262 as of Summer 2024*
Students typically take 6 credits per semester, but this is not required.
Payment for classes is due only upon registration.

Because of the format of the Communication Design Certificate and the Non-Credit Certificates, students in these programs are not eligible for federal financial aid.
Cost of Attendance (COA)
If you are apply for financial aid and are accepted into the Fashion Design Certificate, Furniture Design Certificate, a Postbaccalaureate program, or TPP program, you’ll receive a personalized COA in your Offer Letter that lists:
- Tuition and fees payable to the institution
- An estimate for housing and food for renting an off campus apartment
- Books, course materials, supplies and equipment, including the cost of a computer (for
incoming students) - Transportation
- Miscellaneous personal expenses
We calculate your COA based on your residency status as well as the information you provide about your living arrangements. If your living arrangements change, please notify the Office of Student Financial Assistance so we can update your COA.
Estimated Cost of Attendance For Certificate Students (By Program Type)
Student Charges are based on the tuition cost per credit and the average number of credits taken in one academic year. The estimated per credit cost for 2024-2025 is indicated in the chart below. All incoming student budgets include an additional $1,500 estimate for the cost of a computer.
