Program Highlights

  • Engage in weekly workshops, retreats, visiting artist talks, and lectures designed to inspire creativity, foster community, and provide space for student voices to be heard.
  • Receive holistic support throughout your journey– Compass partners with Academic Support services, Student Development, and College-wide departments to guide you through every step of the way.
  • Work closely with First Year Success Coaches and Academic Advisors from the Academic Resource Center (ARC), collaborate with Department Chairs to map your creative path.
  • Take part in an annual field trip to a broaden your exposure contemporary art through museum and gallery visits.
  • Celebrate the talent Compass students across all disciplines at our annual Compass Exhibition.
  • Connect with MassArt alumni as they share their experiences, offer mentorship, and strengthen the Compass network.

Program Eligibility

Students are eligible for The Academic Compass program through an admissions review of portfolio, grades, and recommendations.

Additionally students must be:

  • First generation in their family to receive a bachelor’s degree 
  • A Massachusetts resident
  • Have a financial need

Artward Bound alumni seamlessly transition into the Compass Program, continuing their artistic and academic growth as Compass students.
