Using Artwork to Convey Self-Empowerment

MassArt alumnus Sherwin Long’s artwork has been selected for GBH’s Community Canvas initiative, displayed as part of Community Canvas on GBH’s Digital Mural above the Massachusetts Turnpike in Brighton on December 10 from 2 to 8 p.m.

“The message I try to convey is one of self-empowerment and the ability to create our own destiny,” Long says. “My life experiences contribute to the vibrant colors, smooth line work, and collage of styles.”

Long is a local illustrator from Dorchester and graduated with a BFA in illustration.
