Dear MassArt Community,
It’s such a wonderful time of the year on campus as we get ready to welcome our new and returning students. I hope you all had time over the summer with family and friends, a chance to relax and recharge, and most of all, to have some fun!
Over the summer, one group that never seemed to stop was our Facilities team. They’ve been very hard at work preparing spaces for the year ahead, improving everything from offices and classrooms to creating a new home for the Admissions Office in the South Building. Thank you to the entire team for all you do!
To our staff, faculty, and students who led, participated in, and supported the myriad of MassArt programs this summer, thank you for a season on and off campus that exemplified the best of our community. We opened up our studios to Youth Programs, brought art and design to young people in their hometowns through MassArt at the Library, and provided opportunities for artists and designers to deepen their practices through Professional and Continuing Education programs, including the Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB) Institute for Pre-K-12 art educators, which we’ve hosted for more than a decade.
We have much to look forward to and a lot of important work ahead this fall. We will welcome two new exhibitions at MAAM, continue work on the Campus Master Plan that will help shape our campus over the next decade, host a wide range of programs, speakers, and events, and take advantage of openings and new opportunities led by our faculty, staff, and students. We will also continue to advocate for the BRIGHT Act and other legislation impacting our campus and community. And, maybe, just maybe, we will have a hometown team in the World Series bringing a great deal of excitement to our Fenway neighborhood.
As we begin this new academic year together, I’m grateful for the energy, creativity, and care that each of you brings to MassArt. I’m excited for what’s ahead and for another year of learning and growing together.
