THE CHERRY ARTS PRESENTS: CORINNE SPENCER “AT THE THRESHOLD”
- Alumni in the News
- Photography
“At the Threshold” creates a mythologized journey beginning with emptiness and the yearning for love, eventually blossoming into tenderness and homecoming within the self. The work re-envisions the relationship between blackness and the land, moving from a story tangled up in America’s history of enslavement and forced labor, to one supplanting violence with gentleness, romance and mystery.
Corinne Spencer received her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2010 and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2014. Her work has been performed and exhibited throughout the US. Last year, Spencer was selected as a photo/video Fellow for the Constance Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts residency, during which some of the artwork in this exhibition was created. The Saltonstall Foundation is a partner in presenting this exhibition.
