JET Student Leaders

JET Student Leaders are integral to the achievements of the JET office, its programs and initiatives. They provide outreach and support to their peers and provide critical feedback to aid the college in achieving its goals for equity and inclusion.

Ja’Hari Ortega (she/her/hers) was born and raised in the Roxbury and Jamaica Plain areas of Boston. She is currently a senior in Interrelated Media (SIM) and has a minor in Sculpture. Throughout her years at MassArt she has cross registered at Emmanuel, Simmons, and The Boston Conservatory at Berklee, building her community and expanding her practice. She has and continues to study Arabic, Dance, Gyrokinisis, and African American Studies. Ja’Hari has also been an active student leader on and off campus, participating in Strategic Planning, leading the Black Artist Union (BAU), working with various offices on campus as well as at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston as the Souls Grown Deep Intern. One of her goals is to pursue conversations about equity, community, accessibility and inclusion through the lens of arts and culture beyond graduating.

Katiana Rodriguez (she/her/hers) is going into her senior year in the Illustration department. She is an Afro-Latina from the Bronx, NY and a lot of her focus within her student leadership work is with the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities on campus. In her free time she’s probably reading, writing poetry or attempting to rollerblade.

Aretha Pereira (she/her/hers) is an Illustration major and international student going into her sophomore year. Though she is originally from India, her diverse cultural upbringing in the Middle East and East Africa was formative in her commitment to activism and advocacy. At MassArt, she’s been involved with the Center for Art & Community Partnerships (CACP) and the International Education Center (IEC). Aretha is passionate about diversifying media representation for people of colour, public speaking, and when she's not making art she's usually writing!

Anushka Suji (she/her/hers) is from Delhi and is in her senior year dual majoring in Communication Design and History of Art. She loves painting and sketching. She speaks English, Hindi and Punjabi. She’s a graphic design/marketing member of MAC Board and also works for Admissions. She is also involved in other stuff like AUC (part of SGA), exhibitions, etc. She’ll be a Primer this year, too. She’s passionate about uplifting underrepresented groups and giving them the justice they deserve.

Fun facts: She loves eating Nutella. She loves plants a lot. She loves to dye her hair different colors. She can also do synchronized swimming (she’s a national swimmer) and she’s a big Justin Bieber Fan.

Abdullah Adisa (he/him/his) is from Nigeria and is a sophomore majoring in Fashion Design, although, on the side he likes to make short films and mess around with graphic design. Growing up in Nigeria he learned how to speak fluent English and his native tongue, Yoruba. Being able to speak Yoruba is something he’s really proud of because his culture really means a lot to him and usually inspires the art he makes. Whether it's the music or a story he was told as a kid. Apart from his work with JET, he’s also a Primer and it's really fun getting to meet new students and guiding them through the beginning of their journey at MassArt.
