Equipment Reservations

Reservations will no longer be taken via email. They must be done in person during equipment hours or on-line. Please note: Large Equipment Items (LEI's) require reservations. LEI's include any groups of 4 or more items, light kits 600W or larger (including jokerbug), bolexes (since they often require lenses, light meter, tripod, etc), and sync kits.

The selected pick-up time will be strictly enforced. If students are even a minute late, their reservation will be revoked and they will have to wait if other students are in line. Their equipment may have been given away to a waiting student in the meantime.

If students are late with returning equipment, they receive a late strike. They will continue to receive additional late strikes for every additional loan period (Monday, Wednesday, or Friday) that they are late. With the "three strikes, you're out" policy, if a student is a week late with equipment they will get three strikes at once. Late strikes are also given if equipment is returned incomplete (i.e. missing an accessory).

Returns take time, too. Students must allow adequate time for check-in and check-out. Do not come just before class and expect to get to class on time. No equipment will be accepted or held without being checked in. Delay times will be built into equipment return, so that it will have time to be thoroughly checked before going back out.

Film Studio Policies

The Film/Video department uses an online calendar to schedule studio spaces. Please check with the studio manager regarding policies and procedures when booking film spaces.

Steenbeck Room
Four-hour time-slots are recommended, starting at 10, 2, and 6. You may sign up later, but after Spring break your time should end at one of those hours (i.e. 3:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.). If you are more than 1/2 hour late, another waiting student may take your time. Keys can be signed out from film cage, or public safety. Studio manager can open room during normal operating hours.

Senior Steenbeck
Preference given to seniors and graduate students, who may sign up anytime in the semester for this room.

Screening rooms
May be signed out for shows (during non-class hours) and after workshops from the Studio Manager, which is by appointment. Key must be reserved with studio manager and time must be reserved on calendar (be sure to check class schedules posted). A projector for use may be signed out during equipment hours-no screening room projector access outside of class. Computer files left on computer will be discarded without notice.

Sound Room
Same as Steenbeck room. Files left on the computer outside the class folder will be discarded without notice. Computer files in class folder will be discarded when maintenance is needed, and the class will be emailed.
