Courtney Jordan is an artist and educator based in Amesbury, Massachusetts. As a Visiting Lecturer in MassArt’s Studio Foundation Department, Jordan’s goal is to provide her first year students with a strong foundation in the fundamentals of art and design that they will continue building upon through their time at MassArt.
In her own art practice, Jordan’s paintings explore the mutability of the built world through her reimagining of familiar architectural forms and urban infrastructure. She creates impossible structures that exist in precarious balance between their manmade origins and their independence as non-functioning, displaced structural objects. Simultaneously familiar and alien, Jordan’s structures exist in a timeless landscape where growth and decay are all that remain.
