A master who has distilled Muranese glass blowing, alumna Nancy Callan '96 BFA Glass honors the Venetian tradition with her own bold color, innovative forms, and style that are "purely American."
Most recently, Callan was featured in the Spring 2019 issue of Glass Quarterly, in a multi-page spread by contributing editor William Warmus. He wrote about her evolution as a glass artist from her time at MassArt to present day, and speaks to Callan being considered one of the "best glassblowers of her generation."
Callan currently lives in lives in Seattle, WA, where she is part of the vibrant Northwest glass community. In Spring 2019, her glass work Spin, Weave, Gather was acquired by the Mint Museum, in Charlotte, NC.
Nancy Callan’s artwork can be found in the permanent collections of the Shanghai Museum of Art, Shanghai, China, The Museum of Glass, Tacoma, WA, the Museum of Glass, Corning, NY, the Muskegon Museum of Art, Muskegon, MI, and the Museum of Northwest Art, La Connor, WA, as well as in numerous private collections.
