Daisuke Hirabayashi was born in Osaka, Japan and traveled to MassArt to study architectural design. Hirabayashi went on to attend Harvard University and attain his Master in Architecture in 2008. Shortly afterward, Hirabayashi joined Herzog & de Meuron in Basel, Switzerland where he focused on schematic design and design development phases for projects such as the Tate Modern Museum extension project in London, The National Library of Israel in Jerusalem, and the Orientalist Museum in Doha, Qatar. In 2017, Hirabayashi opened his own practice.
