Here you will find helpful reminders, important dates, and contact information for specific departments; please refer to your Application Portal for full information regarding enrollment. Parents and families are encouraged to stay informed about the enrollment process via the Admitted Student Family Portal.

Please note the information on this page pertains to undergraduate students admitted for Fall 2020 only. If you are a graduate student, please contact Graduate Admissions for more information.

Secure your spot

To secure your place in the entering class, you must complete and submit the following items within your Application Portfolio no later than June 1 for Fall 2020 enrollment:

  • a completed Tuition and Housing Deposit form 
  • a $550 non-refundable tuition deposit

If you are applying for housing, you also must submit:

  • a completed Housing Application
  • a $450 non-refundable housing deposit (if you are planning to apply for housing, we strongly encourage you to submit both your tuition and housing deposits at the same time along with the appropriate forms)

Please note that all matriculating students must make a tuition deposit, regardless of any expected financial aid. Tuition and housing deposits are non-refundable, but are applied against your tuition and housing charges.

March 1
  • The FAFSA Priority Deadline
April 1
  • Scholarship Appeals: Appeals must be submitted via the form in your Application Portal
June 1
  • Offer Reply Form: Accept or decline offer of admission
  • $550 Tuition Deposit: Secures a place as a student in the incoming class
  • $450 Housing Deposit: Reserves a space in on-campus housing
  • Request for Accommodation Form: Students with documented disabilities requesting housing accommodations must submit the form and all documentation
  • Submit final transcript(s) for schools attended
Late June
  • Enroll in OR waive health insurance
June 30
  • Immunizations: Incoming students must submit the MassArt Immunization Record Form, completed and signed by a physician
  • Business Office mails Fall semester tuition bills; bills will have a due date on the letter
  • Transfer/Readmit Student Questionnaire: The Registrar will take into consideration, when possible, your existing schedule and commute to campus when building your schedule
Early August
  • Tuition bills: Bills must be paid in full to prevent delays in enrollment and move-in
  • Registrar will begin building Fall semester schedules; all incoming students are pre-registered for their first semester classes
  • Studio Presemster meets remotely August 10-28
Early September
  • New student Orientation and move-in will be in early September; dates TBA


If you haven't applied for financial aid, it's not too late. Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online at Make sure to include MassArt's school code on your application: 002180.

The Office of Student Financial Assistance begins sending financial aid award letters in mid-to-late March. If you completed a FAFSA, you should have received a Student Aid Report (a multi-page document called the SAR); review it to confirm that MassArt also received a copy of this data. If MassArt is not listed, contact MassArt's Office of Student Financial Assistance. In some cases, you may need to provide additional documents after the FAFSA has been filed; Learn more >> 

If you completed the FAFSA by the deadlines and listed MassArt, but do not receive a financial assistance letter by early April, please check with the Office of Student Financial Assistance to be sure that they have your social security number on file and the your financial aid application is complete. If you did not complete the FAFSA but wish to apply for financial aid, please do so as soon as possible. International students are not eligible to apply for federal financial aid at MassArt, however, they may apply for a private student loan with a U.S. co-signer.

All offers of admission to high school seniors are contingent upon completion of high school requirements and graduation with your class as scheduled. You are expected to maintain or improve your individual grades and grade-point-average during the remainder of your senior year. In order to confirm your official graduation, have your high school guidance office forward a copy of your final high school transcript to the Office of Admissions after your senior year is complete.

Advanced placement (aP) and International baccalaureate (ib) scores

If you have taken any Advanced Placement tests, please submit official scores to the Admissions Office as soon as possible. The only AP course equivalent to a specific, required MassArt course is AP Art History. With a score of 4 or 5, this course is equivalent to HART-100 Survey of Western Art. Other AP courses, in which a student earned a score of 4 or 5, transfer in to MassArt as studio electives, liberal arts electives, or History of Art electives. AP courses can not replace any required liberal arts courses. 

International Baccalaureate (IB) scores of a 6 or 7 at the higher level are eligible for transfer elective credit. Please submit official scores to the Admissions Office as soon as possible.


If you are a transfer student currently enrolled in college, you must make sure to have your final college transcript sent to the Office of Admissions as soon as possible after the semester ends.


A preliminary transfer credit evaluation was enclosed with your decision letter. If you are currently enrolled in classes please submit an updated college transcript with your final semester grades, course descriptions and updated artwork (if you're seeking studio credits) to the Office of Admissions. Once this information is received, the College will evaluate any new coursework and send you an updated transfer evaluation within 3-4 weeks. Please note that additional transfer credit is not likely to change your entrance level; however, you may be awarded additional liberal arts, history of art, or studio electives.


MassArt is committed to making college a successful experience for all students, including those with documented disabilities. If you have a disability that you believe might stand in the way of your best performance at MassArt, staff at the Academic Resource Center (ARC) are available to assist you.

In compliance with all regulations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA-AA), MassArt assures the protection of your right for equal access to educational opportunities. Student Accessibility Services within the ARC works with students to determine reasonable and necessary accommodations that can be made within the classroom and the studio. These accommodations may include additional time on examinations, rest breaks, note taking assistance, mobility assistance, or access to digital texts.

In order to secure accommodations at MassArt, you must submit documentation of your disability along with the Request for Accommodations Form (in your Application Portal) for you to use to describe your disability and to indicate the accommodations you may need at MassArt. Any information you choose to share with us, on this form or in person, is kept confidential.


Directions for setting up your MassArt email will be sent later this spring after your deposit has been received. Once you have activated your MassArt email account, it is important that you check it frequently since various MassArt offices will email you. You are responsible for knowing the information that is sent to your MassArt email account. Be sure to contact Tech Central at 617.879.7888 or by email if you encounter any problems accessing your account.


Incoming students must submit the MassArt Immunization Record Form, completed and signed by a physician, no later than June 30, 2020. Completed forms should be sent to the Counseling and Wellness Center. Students who have not submitted this form will not be allowed on campus: you will not be allowed to move into on-campus housing, swipe into on-campus buildings, or attend class. 



Massachusetts State Law requires all students enrolled for at least 9 credits to have health insurance. Unless proof of comparable coverage is provided, you must participate in the MassArt Student Health Insurance Plan. To participate in the MassArt Insurance Plan, you must be enrolled for at least 9 credits and in a degree granting program. All international students must participate in the MassArt Student Health Insurance Plan.

All undergraduate students who do not fill out the necessary online form will automatically be billed for health insurance.

studio presemester Program

The Studio PreSemester Program is a 3-credit course open to all first-time college students and Foundation transfers. The course will be offered remotely this summer- at no cost to you - from August 10 to August 28. Studio PreSemester is a fun, challenging and inspiring course designed to strengthen your art making skills and provide an important introduction to the multiple layers of campus life here at MassArt.

First-time freshmen and Foundation transfer students are not required to purchase a computer. There are several labs available on campus for students use. Questions about recommended computers and software should be directed to the Studio Foundation Department at 617.879.7298. Upper level transfer students should consult with respective major departments.


Once international students are formally admitted to MassArt, they are required to submit information in order to apply for F-1 student visa status. Learn more >>
