Safety Protocols for Visitors
Requirements for Visitors
All visitors permitted on campus will be required to follow health and safety protocols adopted by the College and as required by federal, state, and local regulations. This includes self-monitoring of COVID-19 symptoms before coming on campus; complying with the College’s requirements regarding face-coverings/masks, physical distancing, regular handwashing, and following signage posted in the buildings they are entering. Failure to comply with these requirements will result in action including but not limited to revocation of campus access.
In addition, the following requirements apply:
Visiting Artists/Visiting Lecturers:
Visiting Artists/Lecturers are guests of academic programs visiting campus for brief speaking or teaching engagements of less than one day. Plans to bring visiting artists/lecturers to campus must be submitted two weeks in advance of the visit to the support person for the department. All visitors are required to submit proof of full vaccination, provide a negative test result, as well as complete a symptom attestation within 72 hours before their arrival on campus.
Admissions Tours/Prospective Students:
The College is offering in-person campus tours, virtual portfolio reviews, and self-guided neighborhood walking tours as well as virtual information sessions to prospective students. Please visit massart.edu/visit for more details about these events. All visitors must comply with the safety protocols and guidelines established by the College and described above.
Employees of vendors or independent contractors who regularly and consistently interact with the College community for significant periods of time:
Employees of college vendors who regularly and consistently interact with the College community for significant periods of time (for example, the College’s food service provider) as determined by the Vice President of Administration and Finance will be subject to the College’s Screening, Testing, and Tracing Program and other public health interventions that are applicable to similarly-situated college employees.
All contractors must follow college COVID-19 safety guidelines and develop written site-specific COVID-19 safety plans for projects on campus that comply with all federal, state, and local requirements before work can begin. All contractors will be required to have their written site-specific safety plans reviewed and approved by MassArt Facilities and Environmental Health and Safety prior to commencement of work on campus and will be subject to continuous review by the College leading up to project completion. Contractors who employ subcontractors are required to ensure that their subcontractors, if any, comply with this requirement.
Vendors and suppliers of goods and services to be delivered to or performed on campus:
As a condition for continuous or intermittent access to college campuses or facilities, vendors and suppliers of goods and services must maintain a COVID-19 safety plan that complies with all federal, state, and local requirements. Companies are required to ensure that their subcontractors, if any, comply with this requirement. Plans must be provided to the College upon verbal or written request. Vendors and suppliers of goods and services must comply with the College’s requirements regarding face-coverings/masks, physical distancing, regular handwashing, and signage posted in the buildings they are entering.
Vendor and supplier deliveries must be facilitated through Central and Administrative Services for the department requesting the service(s). Shipping and Receiving will arrange with vendors and suppliers to make and receive deliveries at a centralized location in each building to minimize contact with faculty, staff, and students.
Resident Students from Partner Institutions:
In addition to following all federal, state, and local requirements relative to COVD-19 safety guidelines and regulations, all resident students from partner institutions must follow MassArt COVID-19 safety guidelines as they pertain to building common spaces, College policies and directives, and relevant College license provisions regarding the safe operation of their premises. Partner institutions that employ contractors, suppliers, and delivery services must follow College COVID-19 common area building rules relating to physical distancing, wearing of masks, COVID-19 signage and personal hygiene. The Office of Housing and Residence Life will serve as the host and point of contact for all resident matters.
Resident students who regularly and consistently interact with College students, faculty, or staff may be included in the College’s screening, testing, and tracing program and other public health interventions that are applicable to similarly situated College employees. The Director of COVID-19 Operations will determine which residents, if any, fall under this provision.
Other visitors on official College business, as approved by the relevant Dean or Vice President:
Deans and Vice Presidents may approve other visitors on official College business not cited above, provided that they comply with the safety protocols and guidelines established by the College.
VISITOR Exception Requests
Requests for access to campus by those not described herein will be considered on a case-by-case basis and should be submitted at least 48 hours in advance of the requested access to the relevant Dean or Vice President and Director of COVID-19 Operations for review. Such access will not occur without their approval.
