Course Sequence | Communication Design Certificate

Graphic Design critique

Students wishing to complete the entire sequence (Levels 1, 2, and 3) in 28 months from start to finish should plan to follow this sequence*:

Spring Graphic Design III - 3 credits Level 3
Summer Advanced Interactive Projects Level 3
Fall Final Portfolio Level 3


FL = Fall semester 3-credit courses run once-a-week from early Sept–mid Dec.

WIN = Winter “intersession” is in January, before the start of Fall term. 2-credit Winter courses are “intensives” in which class meets 2 or 3 x a week, weekday evenings and Sat mornings.

SP = Spring term 3-credit courses run once-a-week from late January–early May. 

SUM = Summer term. 3-credit courses may run once-a-week late May–early August or, twice-a-week early June–late July.

NC workshops are usually 1 or 2 sessions, on a weekday or weekend, generally 6 hours total time.


*Due to the sequenced curriculum, students may not take courses out of sequence without permission from the program coordinator. 

**Foundations of Graphic Design and/or Typography may be offered in Spring and/or Summer, in addition to Fall. 

*** Students who plan to complete ONLY Level 1 must take Foundations of Graphic Design and Typography, then choose two of the following: Graphic Design 1, Intermediate Typography, UX Design.
