Christopher Watts

Christopher Watts's conceptually driven glass sculpture focuses on contemporary issues such as perceived and agreed value, and the concealed meaning behind a material's history. He uses the natural beauty of the material as an entry point and invitation for viewers to interpret the narratives that are at the heart of his work.

Christopher earned a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. In the years between his degrees he established Watts Hot Glass, which he still runs with his wife Sarah. He has been working with glass since 1987.

Christopher has taught at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design since 2002. In 2008 he co-founded a glass program for Boston University at Diablo Glass School, where he continues to teach. He has been a guest lecturer at numerous schools and universities including MIT, Salem State University and Sunderland University. Christopher has exhibited in solo, group, and two person  shows throughout the US. His work is held in private and public collections. He has been featured in various publications including 25 Years of New Glass Review published by the Corning Museum of Glass.
